Spectacular achievement is always preceded by unspectacular preparation.

Completing the TECH...Once the bikes were run in and washed, the work started on prepping the machines for the epic trip. All the bikes were fully serviced, air filters oiled and fitted. ABS modlues were added for ‘off road use’, leaving only the front wheel in ABS mode and the rear wheel no longer with ABS functionality which, in dirt, is essential. Steering dampers were fitted with small modifications.

ABS modlues were added for ‘off road use’, leaving only the front wheel in ABS mode and the rear wheel no longer with ABS functionality which, in dirt, is essential. Steering dampers were fitted with small modifications. Cycra hand guards, screen brackets, screens and spots added. Handmade long range tanks added on left and right front sides adding almost 10 litres extra (about 200km) and each tank on the machine is isolated allowing it to be turned on and off at any time. Custom made rear tube soft luggage carriers were fitted and engine sump tubes bash plate protection added. Carbon fibre engine covers attached. USB plugs added along with GPS mounts fitted on the handle bars. Lastly new Karoo3 tyres were fitted with thick tubes and anti-puncture slime added to each bike. In conclusion about 15-20kg was added to each machine still making the bike over 50kg lighter than any other possible choice.
